We invite you to come join the HCH family – a family of orphans, staff and caring people who share the incredible vision of redeeming lives that might be lost – and we need you! Like any family… our family has needs, wants and desires. And just like any other family, this family also has its share of problems and issues to work out. However, the biggest difference between our family and the typical family is our distance from each other. Much of our family is at Harvest Children’s Home in Fundong, Cameroon – half a world away and worlds apart. But just because we’re all so far away doesn’t mean you can’t be part of our family. We desperately need your help in many ways.
Our family desperately needs your prayers. This is top priority for us because God can do far more than any of us can. The children need your prayers to overcome the tragedies they’ve experienced in their young lives (all the children at HCH have lost at least one parent, most have lost both). They need your prayers to overcome the obstacles that lie ahead of them as orphans. They need your prayers to regain their childhood – to laugh and to play and to dream big, and lastly they need your prayers to be strong and faithful Godly young men and women who will make a positive difference for the Lord and His Kingdom in their village – or wherever God leads them.
The loving staff who care for our children also need your prayers: they need your prayers for patience in dealing with the children on a regular basis, they need your prayers to be Godly leaders and examples for these kids, and they need your prayers to learn and grow in their roles as caregivers for our children.
Please also pray for the Cry Cameroon Board as they seek God for direction and wisdom to make decisions regarding many aspects of HCH, finances and future endeavors.
Our family needs your financial help… As you know, caring for a family (especially the size of ours!) can be quite a financial undertaking. Your help will be used to continue providing for the basic needs of our children, loving staff and facility. Our kids have the same basic needs of children anywhere around the world: 3 meals a day, ongoing medical care, basic hygiene items, clothing, a good education, and dependable shelter. Our staff also has needs: they need to be paid on a regular basis, they need ongoing education in caring for orphans, and they need additional equipment and facilities in order to better care for our children. Your generosity will also be a key factor in being able to realize our dream of building other Harvest Children’s Homes in Cameroon and beyond to meet the growing need of millions of desperate orphans.
There are 2 basic ways you can help our family financially… One way is to become a regular monthly supporter, and the other way is to make a one-time donation to the general fund or to a special project. Please prayerfully consider how God would have you use the financial resources He’s provided you to help our family.
So you’re thinking about a mission trip? That’s a great way to check out HCH, meet the kids and staff, and make a real difference with your time and talents. We bet you’ll fall in love with them all as we have – especially the children!
But taking a trip halfway around the globe to a place that’s worlds apart from what most of us are used to is no small task – it’s not for the faint of heart. A trip of this magnitude requires careful planning, personal sacrifice, and strategic alliances – but that’s why we’re here to help. Above all else, a journey of this size requires prayer, and a moldable heart to God’s will for His family, but it’s well worth the time and effort. Giving of yourself and loving our family face to face – one on one in their environment – is a life changing experience you will never forget. The impact it will have on them and you is something it will take a long time to realize. And who knows – it may just be the start of a whole new family for you.
So, if you think you’re ready…rather if you believe that God has prepared you to journey to meet our family in person, please fill out the HCH Volunteer Application and email your application to the address listed on the bottom of the form. Our mission trip coordinator will review your application and contact you within a couple of weeks to discuss how we can add you to our ever growing family. Or you can contact us and we will help guide you through the next steps.
So, God is moving in your heart to really be Jesus’ hands and feet for our family in Fundong, Cameroon; but your budget is tight you just can’t give (or give anymore than you already are) and making a trip half way around the world is just not for you? Well, take heart, there are still many opportunities for you to help and to become a long-distance member of the family from right here at home.
One of those things is being an advocate for our family in the church you attend. Does your church have a missions board? If so, let them know how they can become part of the family as well. How about your friend’s churches – do they have a missions board or missions team that is looking for a place to work and grow in God’s Kingdom? You can point them to our family – which is now becoming your family – as a way to get involved and truly make a difference for all eternity. If you would like to become an HCH Advocate or would like more information, please complete our HCH Volunteer Application.
There are other practical ways to become part of the family that change throughout the year. Some of those things include: collecting items (like clothing, personal hygiene items, Bibles, books, school supplies, toys or games) for our mission teams to take with them; raising financial support for those teams traveling to HCH; research projects (appropriate vocational training for our kids or training materials for the HCH staff). These are just a few of the things we can use willing hearts and hands to help us accomplish. If you would like more information regarding helping out in these practical ways, please complete our HCH Volunteer Application and email your application to the address listed on the bottom of the form. Someone will get in contact with you shortly with more details and answer any questions you might have.
